If you are pointing out the "white bugs" on the glass, they are copepods. Totally harmless, a great sign you have them. They can be food for some fish and part of the clean up crew for your tank.

So i understand this, you lost a clown and a butterfly fish because they both jumped out of the tank? If so i would recommend having a lid, i never run a system with fish without a lid for those reasons.

Do any of your fish have "white spots" on them, as if salt was sprinkled on them?

How big are the fish?

Your tank seems small for both the amount of fish and species mix. That could be a contributing factor...

How long has your tank been setup? They may have been fighting and jumped away, but thats only a guess. If your lid is off and they jumped, that sucks but happens. Did the white spots look like something that attached or was it crawling? From the pics, i only see copepods which are good.

No offense but your tank (40G) is way to small for all of those fish and bio-load. I would not be surprised if you have an ammonia problem and or an aggression problem. Those Tangs should be in much larger tanks let alone in a 40G with other fish.

Great point i missed the size of your tank. Agree with above. You may also want to invest in a better lid that fits snug or has weight to it.
