Hello everyone!!
I have my reef tank 120 gallon running successfully for 5 years.
The last few months I have something making my sand ugly, please see pictures..
few days ago I start seeing some white spots on the glass also and maybe those are the same spots on the sand but more brownish.
Also getting some rocks covered with a yellow slime.

Can some one tell me what is this????? how to eliminate them?

nitrates 2
phos: 0.06

thanks
David

Yes, cyano can be yellow, but I can't really tell anything from those pics. Perhaps a better description would help, like how does it act.

It is surprising that you haven't had spirorbid worms in 5 years. They are common harmless filter feeders. Just scrape them off the glass.

Spirorbids: maybe I had them before but now I can see millions on the sand bed also. Happy to know that are harmless.

Some rocks are yellowish on some parts of the rock; with a turkey blaster will go away and reappear in few days.
Sand Bed is brown in almost all the reef tank. I siphon it every 2 weeks with my water changes but is reappears the next day.

I am sure there is lot information about algae’s but don’t know how to identify which one I have.

Cayanobacteria

Diatoms.
After carefully reviewing my sand bed, I have to say that the main reason for being brown is having millions of spirorbid worms of the sand bed
How can I get rid of spirorbid worms????

Are you feeding a lot? Normally this happens in younger tanks and they eventually dwindle down. Unfortunately there is no proven method to get rid of them. I've had them in my tanks, but never to a point I would consider them a problem.

I read that thread, people talking about sixline wrasse or melanurus wrase ( i have both and they dont eat them )
also one guy talk about the copperband

even on that thread the guy with the problem does not say how he solved his problem
there is not much information about it
