Help! Torch corals receding!

Fish tank is almost a full year old and my torches has never looked fully healthy. Now they’re starting to lose heads. I have other LPS corals like hammers and Duncan’s and they’re fully healthy and growing. I’ve tried moving them around and messing with the flow with no good results. I’ve let them set there for months and still nothing. Lighting shouldn’t be an issue I’m running XR15s. What am I doing wrong ?

Have you dipped the corals to check for pests?

Torches can often do better at a bit higher salinity 1.025-6, and Mag levels of 1500-1525 range.

Yes did an iodine dip when it first introduced it to the tank . Very clean . Looked like this from the beginning. I’ve tried those parameters in the past and no luck . I’ll give it a shot again .

3 things I would try here:

1. Whist iodine is a euphyllia specific dip, perhaps do an all purpose one. I use 2 fishes myself for all corals, then a second dip of iodine for my hammers and torches. And re-dipping is sometimes needed if it's caught something between the first dip and now.

2. Play around with where you place them on your rock work. They might just be a bit fussy when it comes to the amount of lighting and flow.

3. I haven't tested this theory out yet, but one of my lfs's mentioned that small doses of Stronium helps massively when it comes to euphyllia care.

Regardless of your posted parameters your rocks don't look healthy. I would hope you'd have more coralline encrusted on the rock. I would start concentrating on 20% weekly water changes and more attention to the tank in general. Perhaps do an ICP and refresh your tank with a little new live rock. I'd hold off on adding any more until you've got at least 50% algae coverage.

rock is still young. Im currently doing 20% every 2 weeks. ICP is needed as you say.

Hey , I might have found the answer to my problem. I have a. Reefer 350 with two XR 15s running at only 50% intensity. I’m going to ramp it up to at least 80% !

You have to increase intensity 1% per day or you will shock your corals. My torches are in 250 par.

You’re the dude that helped me lol I hope I can save them :’( my light been set up at 50% for a year . Make sense because that’s when I did a tank transfer and got new lights . I was running my old HD16 at 100% and they were doing well in my old tank

I had mine at 50% to and corals struggled with no growth. I worked up to 70% and things were better. Rented a par meter and was shocked how low my par was so now I'm at 100% and corals are thriving.

Just ramp up slow or your corals will go into shock.
