I dont see enough detail to determine if thats gha or bryopsis.

But will take a stab at both generally.

Bryopsis responds well to “fluconazole” gha may or may not. Bryopsis looks like feathers up close.

But i would physically remove as much as you can either way. Small siphon and a toothbrush brush works well for me. Small siphon lets you work longer, since less water to being removed per minute. You can even tape the tooth brush to the siphoning end.

Up your clean up crew, depending on tank size, nano snails(i like turbos and red bands)4’ or larger perhaps a tang.

After physically removing test both po4 and no3.

Where those numbers lie would help decide if need to do more.

Also i only use h2o2 outside the tank, and only for bubble algae. Other algae families ime it is not needed and is just a band aid.

Thank you guys for replying. I had spot dose peroxide but it still came back.
I did brushing and syphon on last sunday and still they come back.
I m still figuring out the source of it but cannot find any.
I feed my fishes 2 times a day with flake food,
I only have 2 tangs, 2 clowns, 1 midas blenny & a fire goby.
I have stopped dosing amino and other foods. Dosing only bacteria n carbon.

I use salifert test kit no3 - 5pmm & po4 it shows zero.
I m also running gfo & carbon.
Its soo frustrating [emoji28]

Here are some pics from today
So much algae back in 4 days.

The po4 being zero might be helping the algae.

Its possible it is able to sequester any po4 before desirable organisms can use it. Try holding off on the carbon dosing and retest both no3 and po4.

If po4 still shows zero try reducing gfo amount slowly.

If po4 raises too much, say above .08 you can start carbon dosing again but at a lower amount. If neither gets po4 above zero feed more food or add more fish.

Team

Ill vote chrysophytes

One way to beat them is to part clean the tank, the sandbed, the rocks, all at once. Holler if the tank isn’t too huge and we can do it in ordered steps it’ll work and it w take a few rounds of support due to waiting/amass. The cause is nothing nutrient related, not detritus :), it’s mere happenstance import. The way to win is physical force not chemical coaxing if the tank is smaller/accessible

If it’s large tank then coax all day

Also, peroxide can be used but how it’s being applied here isn’t ideal hence the growback. Peroxide needs to be applied to the clean condition, after the aquarist made the entire tank free of mass via hours of work all at once

It’s used to suppress growback not attain the kill if you want it positioned for best results

A buddy of mine had something similar happen. It looked almost the same as yours and I think he figured out it was to much bacteria dosing and it was starting to form on the rocks. He quit dosing bacteria and within 2 weeks it was pretty much gone.

Agreed I’ve seen carbon dosers elicit similar invaders.

to pre test and prove manual clean mode:

Lift out one test rock w invader

Use a kitchen steak knife sharp tip to surgically debride it away, unanchoring it from the rock. Brushing internally in tank redistributes, this test is outside tank.

After knife topical surgery it’s clean now, but cells remain microscopically

Use peroxide on the clean areas now of the test, directly applied

Let cook a couple mins rinse off with saltwater put back

Chart that rock this week against every other one

Make sure you watch the tank with chemiclean. It causes a drop in o2. Its an antibiotic.

Keep skimmer cup off but on. Move your powerheads near the surface. Any signs of gasping be prepared for a water change.

Update on algae battle. I can see some fair reduction in the algae growth. It has gone off lot compared to the previous outbreak. Posting pics of same location.
The last thing i did was chemiclean dosage. I DID not dose red sea no:pox yet. As i received the bottle today, so i am planing not to dose for a week more and observe things.
No3 is shows 0
Po4 also shows 0. Both salifert test kits.

I had similar algae problems on my 750xxl and i am using gfo as well. Couldn't understood why it was growing when po4 reading was 0.03. Now i feed heavily 3x a day and also broadcast fed my corals. My CUC was 4 turbos snails, 2 trochus snails. After a month of it slowy growing and increasing gfo, nothing would work so i figured what the heck, went to the lfs this past friday bought 20 trochus snails and left for the weekend. Came back home sunday night and wow 80% of the gha/cyano was gone! Im about to go get another 20 more snails. Hannah po4 readings yesterday was 0.05. Im now a big believer in having a big CUC. You should try a bigger CUC. Good luck!

Any suggestions on UV sterilizer? Planing to add 36w UV sterilizer to help.
