Just received this tinkeri and he's got a bloody mouth, red spots on his sides, and some white spots as well (visible on the black part of his back). The store I bought it from thinks it might be from not enough water in the shipping bag and maybe he banged his mouth as well as ammonia burn. He advised waiting it out. His fins are a bit tattered too. What do you think?

Are you running any meds in your qt? #reefsquad what do you guys think? Doesn't look like ammonia burn to me. More like possibly HLLE

No meds. Just received it this morning and he is in a qt.
I would run some antibacterial meds so that none of the fin ends become infected, and make sure you get him well fed. HLLE is usually caused by a nutrient defficiency. So give him a variety of food to munch on.

Best treatment you can use on him right now is this: http://store.nationalfishpharm.com/NFP-products-Nitrofuracin-Green-59584.Item.html

If you can't get that, at least try to locate MB to reverse the possible effects of ammonia poisoning: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/methylene-blue.257467/

After a 30 min MB bath, place him in a QT, and treat with Furan-2 + Seachem Sulfaplex. That combination works well for butterflies with red sore infections. Only thing that works better is previously mentioned NFG powder (at the top).

Will triple sulfa work in place of sulfaplex?

Here's a better photo of the white stuff on him. Looks a bit cottony.

Flukes? Have you tried giving him a freshwater dip and seeing if anything falls off?

No, I have not done a FW dip. I don't think he could survive that. He was laying on his side breathing hard and I thought he was for sure a goner, but then a few minutes later he got and started swimming around like nothing happened. Supposedly the store already treated him with copper and prazi. He suggested I use stress coat. Will that help? If I decide to do the MB bath then furan-2/sulfaplex (or triple sulfa), can I still dose stress coat?

Update: FW dip did not reveal any flukes. I gave it a methylene blue bath then did 10 days of Furan-2 and Triple Sulfa. Much much improved. Fin is almost back to normal. Everything was looking great, but then all of a sudden he developed a whitish/clear growth on his upper mouth and also something by his eye. Not sure what it could be. Injury? Bacterial? or lymph? Behavior is normal and is quite an aggressive eater.

The white growths on his mouth and eye have gone away, but now he has white growths on his body. Is this still lymph? Or maybe bacterial infections? He and his tankmate in the QT do chase each other around occasionally so I wonder if they are injuries. Or is it a parasite?

@puffy127 I think that's still just Lympho. When butterflies have their initial outbreak (in captivity), it can sometimes be very frustrating as the nodules will spread from the fins/tail to other parts of the body. It can also take some time to fully clear.

Ok, thanks. At least it's not a parasite.

So I was out of power for over 24 hours last weekend. Had a battery powered bubbler in the qt, but the water temp got down to around 64 F. He developed what can best be described as welt marks and has some bloody looking marks on his side. He looks very much like when I first got him. It's been over a week and it has not cleared up. I think he is losing scales too, as I see a bunch of them on the tank bottom. Should I go for another round of antibiotics? If so, which ones? He's in a 20g long and last time I reduced the water level to 10g for ease of dosing (each packet of furan or triple sulfa treats 10g). I would prefer not to do that again as the water level was pretty shallow. Is there any easy way of dosing in between 10g and 20g when I only have 10g packets? Here are some photos:

Thanks. Will give it a try. I've already been soaking his food with Selcon.

Ok, it's been 5 days since the acriflavin bath and fresh QT. Seemed to be getting slightly better, but then this red sore shows up. Is it still just lympho? Or should I start antiobiotics again? If so, which combo should I use?
