Help with tank upgrade to Red Sea Reefer 350

I recently bought a Red Sea Reefer 350 to upgrade from a 46 gal Bow front. So here is my issue, I want setup my Reefer 350 in the same spot as my current 46 gal Bowfront. What is the best way to do this without losing any fish? Oh and I also bought new sand, so the old sand will go in trash.

Things to consider:
Where should I put my fish during the transfer? (I have a small 10gal tank)
I will transfer most of the old water to keep the bacteria However, if I add more water will this throw off my water parameters?
Since I am adding new sand ( Fiji live sand) there will be small particles everywhere for the first two days or do. Is it save to add my fish during this stage?

A brute trash can. Or multiple 5 gallon buckets. 5 gallon buckets is what I used. It was a quick transfer. I had everything ready for tare down and setup. That includes water ready for new tank. Maybe 4 hrs in buckets.
