Medium light, it grows like a weed. A friend keeps his in high light, no issues.

Let me expand on this a little

JF keeps his very low light, that's how he makes the red pop so much under Royal Blue. It's kind of a trick, in a way. It's a much "softer" red (for lack of a better term) under moderate lighting. More like that classic and bright "Ferrari Red". The higher you place it, the lighter and more pale the red becomes. To me, it's a good balance at moderate lighting, right in the middle of the tank.

In the picture I had posted, the lighting was a little bright, so I had to set the camera to -1 2/3 EV --- What does that mean? That means I had to make the image dark, as it was too bright and washed out. This gives the illusion of a very deep sanguine colored red -- That is not what it looks like in person. In person, it's more of a vibrant and bright red, like the "Ferrari red" i mentioned. With more par, and lower nutrients, that red will get progressively... "chalky" (again, lack of a better term). And get a very light white hue on it.

Around moderate/middle lighting you'll be JUST on the border of the that "Chalky" white hue. This will depend on lighting, lighting intensity, and tank depth.

A final word here -- Red colored SPS seem to respond VERY positively to nutrients. I know the old guard is still around claiming you want near zero no3/po4 -- And I disagree. So do many of those who wrote the books those old guards relied on for information. I've personally found color is more vibrant in my red SPS with elevated nutrients, especially phosphates. To me, elevated phosphates are between a minimum of 0.08, to 0.10 -- That said, many have po4 in excess of 1.00+, and no issues. I personally keep mine around 0.20-0.30, nitrates around 25.

Alright snow bunnies...we want pics!
Already posted on your thread but here’s some snow pics. I’m back in the Bay, both tanks are looking great, noticeable growth and encrustation.

This is located in Truckee, CA(Tahoe Area). Right by where the Donner Party incident happened many moons ago. I can see how they got stuck. The snow was insane. 15ft in some places!

That's awesome, looks like a blast!!
Thanks man! It was a great time! Snowboarded NorthStar for 3 days while I was up there. It was probably the best conditions I’ve ever rode on. So awesome.

Not the best pics. But a little update.

Tweaked my lights a bit. My peak on my 360’s now is constant spectrum and intensity. Previously I had the color ramp down to zero over the day, but it was only 35% color max for less than an hour during peak. So now it’s at 80% intensity and 35% color for 6 hours at peak along with my t5’s. I also raised the intensity up from 75%, hoping to see a little more growth.

That Sunshine, Spike, and Delores in the pic? Everything's looking good! Did you give up naming them after the first few? Didn't seem a name for the blue tang. The Mandarin Goby? Is it usually out or usually hiding?

Lol you know it man! Thanks dude! I still name them if a good name comes to me and once they stay in the tank a few months. The mandarin is still doing great. He usually is on the underside of rocks eating pods, not the best for pics lol.
