A while back I bought a bunch of different hermits from @reefcleaners (I couldn't even tell you what all I ordered) but I never saw this one. I'm hoping it's one of the marine giant hermit crabs I ordered since it looks similar to one. What do you guys think?

Hard to tell scale but don’t think that’s a giant marine hermit. Those are as as big as your hand.

This one is small, shell is maybe 1". But babies are not that big....

I do own 2 giants, one is softball sized or a little bigger, the other has maybe a 2.5" shell. But this little guy has a lighter color to him

Is that maybe the one they call a "Polka-dot" hermit?

Good looking crab, whatever it is!

I had to look that one up! The body looks right but the polka dot has solid color legs, this one does not. Honestly I'm leaning towards it being a baby giant. Heres a pic of Tamatoa our big guy for reference

Looks like a baby giant hermit. They sell them super tiny at 1.5” or so...

Np. I assume you’ve got a big tank, them things get so huge! My 1” crab does enough damage on his own, can’t imagine a 12” crab...
To quote a member over at my local reef club, pnwmas, "Probably a Dadanus Megistos, the breaker of reef worlds, stripping all life from the very rocks beneath its feet."

It's in a 38g bowfront species specific hermit crab tank but I have no illusions of it staying in that tank for too long.

I think I may have gotten one also. It's in my Reef tank so not sure if I should move it. Came from reefcleaners.
