Hey guys. Been about 5 or 6 years since I've had a reef tank. Good to see familiar faces here still even though you guys might not remember me. I live upstate near Saratoga now but I learned so much from you guys when I started 12 or so years ago. It's been many years and now I'm finally getting back into it. Lotta new stuff out there these days it seems.

I'm looking for a pump for my old reef octopus. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on good quality DC pumps, preferably with variable speeds.

Also it's a very tight fit in this little eshopps sump so if someone could point me in the direction of those little black flex hoses I've seen on a few skimmer pumps I'd appreciate it.
Would there be too much vibration with mounting the pump on the wall of the sump?

Also does anyone know a local store with black pvc pipes? I'd like to plumb the tank today but looks like I might need to order colored pipes online.

Looks like I'll have to order the pvc from aquarium specialty. I also could use advice on a good return pump. Something around 1,000 gph since I have two 1" drains. Needs to be under 4" wide. Small sump.

Also I have 2 return line options for this tank. A 3/4 and 1". Would the 3/4 be too restrictive? Or would it squeeze the water to produce more pressure for higher gph entering the display?

They also sell skimmer pumps.

Is that a venturi skimmer? It's hard to find those now. I just ordered myself a new "old school" venturi, from Lifereef. Many of the replies on that thread and others recommending the Sicce ADV 7.0 for the SVS2-24 which looks similar to what you have.

The link below may be helpful for you to browse through, since there is a lot of cross over in what I was looking for in a skimmer / pump combo.

Hope to see you around.
