Wondering if anybody has ever had high alk in the Red Sea salt bucket. Tested 11.2 when it’s supposed to be 7.8-8.2. Did I get a bad batch?

Did you dry mix the salt? Don't pay any attention to the BRS infomercial, you still need to do it if you mix small batches... larger batches tend to level out more.

Did you test with Salifert? They are cheap and good to have on hand to check your Hannah and stuff.

Good advice here ^^^^^^
Was just about to say....dont forget to roll the bucket or dump the bag back out into the bucket to make it homogeneous again.
Shipping settles these buckets out a lot. :)

Dry mixed the whole bucket like a mad man. Still showing high alk. 11.3. I’m thinking this was packaged wrong and this is coral pro in the bucket and not regular Red Sea salt.

This may sound overly simple , butt calibrate your saltinity checker and be certain it’s right. If you mix it a little bit overly salty the you will get high numbers .

how long are you letting it mix for. I dont trust any numbers if not mixed for at least 24hrs. the BRS video even went into this about readings being high until mixed for 24hrs...

What are you using to measure salinity and how much are you mixing? 5 gal atleast?
Was the hanna checker @ 7 8-8.2 with your last bucket of RSBB?
