Due to trying to fit a lot of equipment under my stand that currently isn’t, I want to downgrade to a much smaller sump on my ELOS 200XL (volume about 700 liters). I have some questions:

1) Can I fit two KLIR 4” rollers in this sump since it has two spots for filter socks?
2) #1 because I’ll likely be moving about 3000-5000 LPH (~8000-1200GPH) through the sump using two Vectra L2’s (I was going to drill the pump section and install them externally)

Any thoughts? I’m terrible with plumbing and hardware so I appreciate it. Thanks!

1. Maybe, but I haven't heard great things with the KLIR rollers.
2. I assume you mean 800-1200 Gph unless you hate your fish. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Why exactly do you want to downgrade your sump and install the pumps externally? I run a single Sicce SDC 9.0 on my 750 liter system and it's worked great so far (display is 160 gallons and the sump is 40 gallons). I just upgraded to a Red Sea ReefMat 500 which I would definitely endorse if you're looking for a great fleece roller.

Hey, thanks! You’re right about the flow

I want to downgrade my sump because I want to move equipment that’s currently outside my stand underneath the stand and right now it won’t fit. (Chiller, mastertronic, external skimmer) Because I have a giant custom made some with a big refugium section.

I’d to keep the pumps plumbed externally to keep the heat load out of the aquarium, because I use halides. Or does that Not make much of a difference due to the water passing through the pump and taking the heat away anyway?

Thanks for the advice about the fleece rollers. I’ve noticed Red Sea is very hit or miss, I love their dosing pumps, but the reef wave pumps are awful. Good to know that the fleece roller is good!

Seems like RS rollers are available here next month. I’ll do a test fit once I get the sump!

Each Flir Unit is rated at like 700GPH. So with 2 you can do 1200gph. I have a Fiji Cube 24 Advanced as well and plan to do 2 Flir 4s as well in it. My max flow is about the same as yours but most of the time I have it running at 60%.
