Hey guys. I woke up today to my Hippo with this spot on his side
The parameters of the tank are good.
There is a Gem tang and a Naso in there but only thing I’ve seen show aggression is the gem and it’s not really bad.
He has a nip in his anal fin from the naso from a few months ago but they’re on good terms now lol.

More close-up pictures - with white light - as well as answers to the questions (either in my signature - or at the top of the forum would help us help you)

I agree with a minor injury. It is quite common with hippo tangs as they like to wedge themselves into tight little crevices to sleep. I would observe him for the next 24 hours, if it gets worse, then get back to us.

Either a nick or even a spot of sand as they lodge themselves under or between rocks

Thanks everyone. He wedges the crap out of himself to sleep. I’ll monitor him
Also. Could a pistol shrimp done that to him?
