My longnose hawkfish has a bit of a sunken belly. I noticed this about a week ago so I upped my feeding of selcon soaked frozen mysis shrimp from once to 2-3 times a day. I've tried offering pellets, but he just has no interest. He eats about 10 pieces of shrimp per feeding. Should I feed more? I'm thinking about giving rod's food a try. Are there any other frozen foods out there that have a good amount of protein and fats?

I've never kept hawkfish, because I know that they are infamous for peoples eating inverts, so I would suggest maybe try feeding it some typical cheap cleanup crew type organisms like small crabs/shimp etc.

aside from ornamental shrimp they're pussycats. between a longnose and a flame hawk neither has ever payed any attention to any snail, crab or fish smaller than it.

As for high currency food choices, Larry's reef frenzy causes a feeding frenzy in my system.

Right now for food I have pellets, nori, 2 types of "Rods" foods, mysis, spirulina brine, fish eggs, herbavore frozen and blood worms.

Do you know where I can find Reef Frenzy where there isn’t a ridiculous shipping charge? BRS doesn’t carry Reef Frenzy, but they have free shipping for frozen foods.

Being i'm a mid-western Canadian i cannot unfortunately. Thankfully my lfs has a terrific frozen variety and stocks it or i probably wouldn't even know about it.
