My first tank was a 20 long. I had 7 other tanks after that over a period of 8 years. I stopped for 8 and just came back to the hobby with a 15 Gallon column tank. It's 7 weeks old and I'm already upgrading next week lol to 24 Gallon nano.

I setup my first reef tank in late 2017, a Reefer 250. This year I invested in a second, larger tank, Reefer 525XL after I felt a) I had learned enough to continue in the hobby, b) I was enjoying it enough that I wanted to continue and c) I had the space and financial capacity for the second tank. This was the addition of a second tank not an upgrade in my case.

Started out with a 36g bow front, then bought a 90g, then added a 50g lowboy into the mix. And in a couple of weeks will be upgrading the 36g to a 60g cube.

Think I made the mistake I see alot of new reefers make and I started with a 55!!! That didn't last more than a year and I needed a little more depth so went to a 75.... then another year later wanted something that looked a little more pleasing so went to a 60 slacked off on that tank it finally started leaking.

I knew I would be moving soon so I almost decided to go on a hiatus but wanted to keep my clowns that I have had so long so purchased a waterbox 20, and that's where I sit now.. its small but so easily manageable and when comes time to move wont be that bad.

Someone gave me a Nanocube. After about 6 months I got tired of fighting the lights, heat and jamming my hands into the little compartments in the back for maintenance and moved everything to a 20L.

Started with a standard 55 gallon with HOB filtration, 4 months later I upgraded to a RSR 350 which I still have. The 55 I use as a QT and I have a 10 gallon for a hospital tank. This year(January) I started a 30 gallon at work.

I started with a IM 10 gallon cube all in one. I've had that about 3 years.
Upgraded to 60 Cube with sump about 4 months ago.
I still have both because I will use the nano as a quarantine for corals.

My first saltwater tank was a 20g from petco, took me two months to upgrade from there. Darn addictive hobby.

I started with a 10gal tank in the late 80s with a couple of clowns and I think damsels. Had it for a few years then got a 60gal tank. I think I had it for 5 or 6 years then added a 120gal oceanic that a friend was selling. Got rid of both of them when we moved in early 2000 to the big city. Was able to make it around 6 months before I had to jump back in and got a 75gal oceanic. Still running the 75gal. Oceanic made some great tanks. Also have a 30long oceanic that is around 10years old plus a 20gal freshwater tank that is going to be replaced by a 60gal soon. Got to keep spots happy.

First reef tank was set up in May 2011. Was a 30 gallon tank. December 2014 I upgraded to a 90 gallon tank. March 2017 I upgraded to a 120 gallon. I downgraded to a 47 gallon short cube tank on November 2018. I then downgraded again to a Reefer 170 on May 2019. I'm probably gonna stick to this size for a reef since I don't spend a ton of time on maintainance (water change every 2-3 weeks), less money for equipment, small foot print so I can put it anywhere and is asthetically pleasing.

I may set up a second tank one day, a larger FOWLR tank.

My first tank was a 75. I bought it used in 1997, and it was all scratched up. Then in 1998, I moved into an apartment, so I bought a brand new 75 and moved everything there. Then I met my wife, we got married and bought a house in 2001. When I bought the house, I had a plan to upgrade to a 180, but that had to wait about a year after we moved in (to get some stuff fixed in the house), so the 75 got set up in my basement. In 2002, I bought and set up the 180. My 75 is still set up in my basement next to my sump. So it took me about 4 years to go from the 75 to the 180.

I had a JBJ 29g and within 6 months had a 210g purchased. Took me over two years to get it fully installed and happy though. Had to add an addition to the house to have a sump room for the tank first. :) It got crazy fast!
