I did not want to admit it but... I thought I was cool when I had breading cichlids... Hind sight is how one develops perspective.
Still not cool, but some perspective later I have moved on from the cichlids.

I used to breed salvini cichlids and brichardi cichlids. I would sell them at fish auctions. No judgement here!

2000. 55 gal FO switched off to reef about 2005. Add 15 gal reef 2019
Think I’m going to slow down with buying anymore livestock or items I don’t need. Time to retire from the hobby slowly! When I do water changes I remove some live sand and don’t replace. Will see how my tanks look bare bottom!

23 years. I went from a 10g nano tank to a 58 Oceanic, which was quite nice, but then I got the go ahead for a 180g tank, which I went for, but it has never been a good tank mostly due to me adopting a lot of fish and then having a lot of nitrate issues with all the feeding.

I’m reaching one year with my tank really soon and I’m looking forward to many more….so I’m curious to how long have you been in the hobby? It doesn’t have to be straight and not including gap years without a tank!
I’ve been in this hobby 13 years (possibly longer).
My oldest tank stocking I had was 10-12 years and went through 2 tanks, first a 4’x2’ then downgraded to a 3’x2’. But now I’m happy with a 3 year old 4’x2’ again and a nearly 6 month old 3’x16”x1’ custom made nano :)

I've been reefing since 2007. Started with a 20g display and now I'm at 540g. I'm already contemplating concrete upgrade... :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
It’s a real addiction!
You’re lucky to have room for a 540G tank!! I’m hoping in my dream house I can have an 8’x4-5’ tank :)
