Now I feel like a newbie with some of these histories. Fresh water on and off since the late 60’s, wife encouraged my first reef tank setup in 95 as a birthday gift, been at it in various incarnations continuously ever since that time. So 27+ in reefing. Trying my hand at a 160 mixed reef now.

Bought my first SW tank in 1988, in Southern Cal. We moved a lot! So that same tank had been set up in 3 different states Cali, NY, and Florida! I set that same tank up in 9 different houses always saltwater! Finnally upgraded from my original 60 gallon Tru View acryllic to my current 180 gallon Miracles glass tank in April of 2021

I remember having fish when I lived @ home for a while in the 50's.
After I married I started again with freshwater in 1963-64.
Saltwater came 5/1/77 with a FO 220 O'Dell tank.
SO--A Long Time, even longer than Paul although not the same tank.

We used to bring home fish in Chinese food containers before plastic bags. :)

Wow, that first tank was quite the national traveller. Not too many tanks have done that!

I’m reaching one year with my tank really soon and I’m looking forward to many more….so I’m curious to how long have you been in the hobby? It doesn’t have to be straight and not including gap years without a tank!
Going on my second year. I love this hobby! I learn something new all the time!

Younger people reading this are going " What?!"
Most people on here don't realize they didn't have much of anything made of plastic until the end of WW2 and bags were not common until way after that. TVs and Radios were made of wood and things like telephones that looked like plastic were Bakelite which is a type of glass. Milk came in glass bottles and toothpaste came in a metal tube. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

"Computers" were also made of wood. :flushed-face:

And fish were sold in toy stores.
