New to saltwater tanks. I purchased an established tank that a LFS maintained for a local church. Now it's mine and I transported 95% of the water and have everything set up. I went to the LFS to buy already made saltwater to fill the tank. However, I did not use all of it. I have 5 or so gallons left in a standard storage container with a lid.

My question is how long would this be considered "good" for? I am not sure if certain things from the container could ruin the saltwater over time or what.

That would be determined by what salt being used and the manner in which it’s stored. Randy and Ryan from BRS have a good video on YouTube with details on this subject.
