10+ here. A mixture of frozen plus I add some freeze dried. I also use flake once in a while, pellets and nori. I make up condiment bottles of frozen cubes--the typical ones plus frenzy or rods. 5-6 cubes plus a pinch of freeze dried myisis or blackworm. I'll add some coral foods as well as AB+. When I need a bottle I take out of freezer and pour in a couple inches of phyto, maybe some selcon once a week, and then ro after it is thawed. Last about 2 days. I feed this 2x's a day with pellets at night for the sand creatures/goby

We're continuing our topics pertaining to Aquarium Food, feeding, etc. today and you can't talk about feeding without talking about the food right!? Some of our fish are on a pretty basic diet, simple and not complex. Others have fish who are accustomed to a buffet, a smorgasbord of different types of food. Let's talk about it today!

How many different food items do you feed your fish?

Will you LIST everything that you feed individually for us?

Depending on the fish. My reefs get mysis, spirulina brine shrimp, live copepods and amphipods, nori, and phyto, plus aquavitro feed. My predator tanks get live feeder shrimp from rusalty, frozen shrimp, scallops, squid, PE mysis, mussels and clams, silversides and krill.

I normally feed frozen foods. But every so often I'll do pellets.

I feed four different foods.

I mainly rotate feeding Rods Food original, LRS Reef Frenzy and P.E. mysis. When I'm in a hurry or someone is watching my tank I have TDO Chroma Boost pellets.

How many different food items do you feed your fish?

So I'm definitely in the 5+ category. However, I only do 3 types per day, and I kind of rotate through the items I offer.

Will you LIST everything that you feed individually for us?

Everyday I offer a dry pellet and 2 refrigerated foods. The first feeding of the day is the pellets, and the 2nd one is the 2 refrigerated foods.

Here are the items I feed:

Dry Pellets
  • TDO Chroma Boost
  • Aquaforest Veggie Pellets
  • Aquaforest Tiny fish food (this one goes in the nano)
Refrigerated Foods
  • Aquaforest liquid artemia
  • AF rotifers
  • AF liquid mysis
  • AF ...something else I can't remember right now...
  • Reef Nutrition R.O.E.
  • RN Oyster Feast
  • RN ...something else I'm forgetting...

I feed frozen which I buy in the blister packs of cubes. Usually the one I buy has 6 rows of 5 different foods including mysis, plankton, seaweed, chopped clam and copepods.
I also feed nori for my tangs and pellets with the odd pinch of flake every so often.

BRS Frozen Reef Chili which is loaded with an assortment of items, Chromaboost pellets, and Seaweed Extreme pellets. I am trasnitioning away from super meaty foods and trying to feed my herbivores loads of algae, nori, plant based items, etc.

I watch the live cams from Hawaii and every tang you see is only eating algae off the rocks. They certainly aren't eating freshwater mysis at any point in their life. I think far too many of us feed way too much meat to our herbivores and they pay for it in time.

If I can supply all of their dietary needs with algae pellets/wafers and sheets of nori, that is my new plan. I can add meaty pellets to my auto feeder as well for my more carnivorous fish. However, I have watched all of my "meat eaters" devour the seaweed pellets and nori sheets. Not having to feed frozen food every day would be a huge win IMO. With an auto feeder, I can feed them 10 times a day if wanted. I am sure they would appreciate it

I feed four different types of frozen (bloodworms, calanus, krill and mysis) and two live (pods, baby brine shrimp). I periodically add vitamins to those). Relatively speaking my fish have a more diverse and healthy diet than me!! :)

I voted 5+, but is probably over 20 with everything that's in LRS. I used to make my own frozen, but found LRS easier to use, and buy.

Frozen:
LRS
PE mysis
PE Calanus

Pellets:
Regular NLS
TDO chromoboost
NLS algaemax
