Thank you @Sleeping Giant for the QOTD idea!

One piece of equipment that 99.9% of every saltwater reef aquarium hobbyist uses is LIGHTS! It's also no secret that the majority of reefers now choose LED lighting over other types of lighting. (not saying other types are not good options) But how many lights we have and what brand we are using are left up to our specific needs and taste! So let's light it up with some comments today!

1. How many lights (fixtures) do you have over your tank and what's the dimensions of your tank?

2. Which brand(s) of lighting are you using for your reef tank?

I recently upgraded to a single Phillips CoralCare Gen2 on a 24x13x16. It's total overkill. I am keeping my eyes peeled for a used 24x24x16 or 30x24x16. It's funny how you justify a big purchase that's on clearance, then immediately start finding ways to spend more than you saved...

I have two of the 300watt ViparSpectra lights on my 125g tank (72"x18"x21"). They're cheap lights but have so far have worked well for me. I purchased them when I was setting up my tank and was still trying to build the cheapest setup that I could. I'm probably going to upgrade to the new Noopsyche lights because I've read some very positive reviews of them for their price. I can't help it I'm still a cheapskate.
If cost wasn't an issue I would probably go with the SKY lights because I've just recently bought into the Apex controller system and really like it.

2 lights over a 2'x5' Waterbox 180.5

I have 2 Neptune Sky LEDs and I could not be happier. I have had AI Hydra HD 32s, Radion G5 XR30 blues and Reefbrights as accent lights for both. The Skys are by far my favorites.

I have 3 videos I have done on the SKYs on my YouTube cannel for more information: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9b14MGoje7GdqcOSPpJePQ

There are also links in my Build Thread to individual videos.

I use 3 AI hydras ( 2- Hydra 26HDs & 1 Hydra 52HD) and a Reef Breeders Lumen bar. I've used AI since day one in the hobby. These are over a Red Sea Reefer 350.

How are those diffusers? I was thinking about getting them for my Hydra 32s.

I've used them on both of my tanks... They give a nice soft diffused light similar to t5's. You do have to increase you intensity a tad bit, but if you do not run your lights at max it isn't a big deal. with my mixed reef my LPS love the color blending and my SPS love there is little to no shadowing. I added the reef breeder led strip on the back angled forward to help increase light blending from a rear point. I highly recommend diffusers, more and more lights are introducing diffusers, i.e. the new Neptune SKY has a diffuser built in.
