Nice rimless tank...may I ask which brand?
It's a Waterbox Clear Mini 10. I'm wanting to switch to a UNS 60S which is 10 gallons larger and fits the footprint of my new stand. I'm very impressed with the clear mini tanks though

Totally! I have a 75g planted with mostly tetras.

And a 10g with a betta and shrimp and rabbit snails. It's undergoing a redo at the moment. It's tinted brown on purpose :)

#1 maintenance trick is this: the lighting is not full power it’s about half power on purpose so that algae won’t grow down low where I can’t get to it. On acrylic, removing algae = scratch and this is 100% scratch free by design, as algae builds up it only attaches on the bright upper 1/4th of the column. I drain out water via siphon exposing all algae, use wet hand towels with peroxide across the green areas and let sit cooking 3 mins or so, no scrubbing. Refill. In two days the algae is hazy, in four days 100% gone, repeat bi monthly. Low ferts to drive less algae and simple plants who tolerate it all! Each water change only exposes the top quarter or third of the column and the algae is killed then new water put back. 100% scratch free trick.

No doubt planted cichlid tanks can be tricky. This one thrived for a few years, but was ultimately too small. I'd like to try it again with a 75g.
The Africans definitely need lots of space. I tried it in a 36, went well for a while before it all fell apart.
I had plants with some juvies towards the end during a transitional period between mbuna and a planted tank.
And then there’s American cichlids, if they don’t eat the plants they just uproot them…

Muscovy ducks are the only thing I've ever seen eat a bufo marinus toad. I've also seen them beat the crap out of kids who harass them at the parks multiple times lol.
Also they’re the only non mallard based duck breed. Kinda duck/goose/swan hybrid. The males are almost 20 lbs and the females are about 5-6lbs. They also aren’t water based so they don’t make mud messes, and finally and pleasantly they are “quackless” ducks. So no honking out back, the most you get is a pure/coo from the females-!: a throat clear/hiss sound from the men. They also wag their tails when happy like a dog. So much better than our silkie chickens for personality gaha

Good luck with your pond I have one about 4000 gallons. Don't get discouraged at first it takes about a year for them to really mature. I have mine attached to an aquaponics set up (Basically a refugium that grows food) if you can do that as well it makes it much easier to maintain. My pond is 4 feet deep and clear to the bottom and I feed heavy. My main filtration is an upflow rubber maid with lava rock and pea gravel. Stay away from limestone or other calcium based rocks.
I actually bought an oase filter for my 4-5k pond. It is AWESOME for clarity, I was originally running copper and a massive uv system but after the pond matured all I need to do is clear the filter once a month. I would recommend it to anyone if you’re okay with gravity outlet. If you need pressurized you’ll want some kind of sump/catch bin
