I spend $200 every 6.5 months on aquaforest pro component 1+2+3+. Complete dosing equal parts, stability is second only to calcium reactor. There are many cheaper options but for me this is just set and forget.

ESV 2 part dosing 55ML daily in a 150 gallon tank, Mostly SPS and they are taking off finally. Did my numbers based on the 8 Gallons at $90.00 and came back in the neighborhood of $9.80 monthly. Maintaining ALK at about 8. Has dropped to 7.8

You can see the recipe for Randy's two part here( is use recipe one)---

I overestimated my cost. The first post I made is for two tanks filled wall to wall with Acros.................90 & 60g. I haven't done the math in a while but, if you buy a commercial aquarium 2 or 3 part product like ESV ect. it's going to cost you waaaay more.
It's all the same chemicals, no need to overspend.

The up front cost for me is 60 cents for a gallon of alk I make up. I buy baking soda at the grocery store for 50 cents a pound.

I used to use Peladow for calcium at a cost of $20 for a 50lb. bag. This bag lasts about 4.5 years. Over the last few years it's been hard to get locally. If you buy online they have the ship cost baked into the final cost so it's more in the $50 range. Or you can buy bulk packaged calcium chloride as well.

Mg is kept level with water changes............I don't dose Mg. It very seldom gets depleted even if you do minimal water changes.

----------------------------------------------------------

Another option is Kalkwasser which is another economical option. It's just pickling lime(calcium hydroxide) you can buy from anywhere. It's both alk and calc in one solution so it's is always balanced and can also help to keep ph up.
