As someone that has tried what you want to trie, mandarin in a 20g, i will agree with all these comments. After the main cycle I add a pair of clowns and thats all that is in my tank now and its been about 2-3 months. I have setup a small refugium in my AIO builds back chamber with chaeto and lots of bio media for copepods to grow and multiply. I have dumped in 2 bottles of 3 species of pods and the chaeto is growing. After all that, my mandarin i later added still wasnt staying healthy and was losing weight. I traded him before i lost him to a friend with a huge established tank. Tank from another "new again" reefer, time is key to this hobby. I may try again later but wouldnt be till tank is at least year or more so pods really fluish but not willing to do more harm to such a beautiful fishie.
