So, I'm stealing this idea, from a friend of mine, and altering it slightly.

How much water do Reef2Reef members use, in a given time. Let's call in a 30 day month.

Include water used to make saltwater and water used for Top Off. In other words, don't count water that goes down the drain, making RO/DI water.

Add your total to the person who posted previous to you. Let's try to get everyone involved. The more members involved, the more of an accurate idea we can get on how much water R2R members use! It's kind of scary to consider...lol

I'll start it off.

My tanks consist of:
200 gallon Deep Dimension
40 Breeder
75 gallon

I add approximately 4-5 gallons of top off water, per day, so I'll call it 4.5 gallons/day.
I do approximately 80 gallons worth of water changes, per month.

4.5 gallons/day X 30 days=135 qallons
+
80 gallon WC per month

Total of 215 gallons per month (for a whoppin' total of 2580 gallons per year!!)

Now, the next person to post would add up their own usage and add it to my 215, for a new total. Everyone try to follow the same or similar format, so we make sure to get the math right!

Again, my monthly total is 215 gallons.

Can you add in all the water that goes down the drain when making RODI water? Do you multiply by 4? Mine is 45 gallons a month plus whatever goes down the drain when making RODI water. Well I try to use it on plants when possible.

Don't count water that goes down the drain. Only count water that actually goes into your tanks, water changes and top off.

LOL I see we're already way off track. Please reread the first post, from beginning to end. If we follow a set format, adding our total to the total of the previous poster, it'll make it much easier to keep a running total or usage.

I use approx 30 gals per month. I don't do much water change to that is mostly top off.

total 1566+30 = 1596

FWIW, my water rate is $1.77 per hcf (748 gallons). so at the current running total, that costs $3.77 / month.

Bump!!
Let's keep this going, to find out how much water R2R members use, in a month. Please read the first post to make sure we're all following the same format, to more easily keep a running tally.
So far, our total is 1596 gallons per month.

~265gal system + 50gal QT

2 x 40gal water changes
10gal x 4 = 40gal for topoff
120gal total on a normal tank maintenance, even though I'm going through probably 400+ right now

1686 + 120 = 1806gal
