How often and how much water should I change out in my quarantine system?
The point is to stay ahead of the ammonia cycle right?

I have a 10g qt that I just set up with a heater and an AC30 filter and an airstone

Yes, you want to keep it at zero ammonia. Use a Seachem ammonia badge. At the first sign of ammonia, do enough of a water change to get it to zero. You could be proactive and change 10% or more weekly.
This is a little more complicated if you are using medication in the tank.

Is this QT because of a sick fish or for new fish? If it's a sick fish I would do 50% every 3 days. New fish I would do 2-3 gallons a week. Just my thoughts

Listen to wkscott and get a Seachem ammonia badge and stick it on the front of the Q-tank. Do water changes at the first sign of ammonia.
