Does the tank/bucket for culturing pods need to have a heater, and does it need a light?

Silly question on an old thread, but would it be possible to start a tisbee culture with only larvaes?

If I’m adding pods directly to my tank is than an effective way for them to propagate?
‘I’ve got one mandarin and have been adding every 8 weeks and adding ocean magic daily.
i Have no sump just a hang on back filter for my 29G

In the same boat, I have no sump just a hob aquaclear and a big skimmer. Wife would LOVE a pair of mandarins for Christmas, but I just don't want to fail by them not having enough food.
