hi guys, I've added live rock to my tank and now I see there are a bunch of small manjanos showing up. What is he best way to get rids of them? I've added hermit crabs, but they are not doing much? Should I add a peppermint shrimp? Will they help?

Thanks

Peppermints are hit or miss. they may help or they may not eat any of them.
There is the majano wand or aiptasia-x or boiling hot lemon juice in a syringe.

Btw filefish are not reef safe. Keep that in mind if you plan on getting coral in the future. You cant go wrong with aiptasia x or a majano wand imo.
I've had file fish in a reef tank a few times and they didn't bother anything but aiptasia. Reef safe is debatable.

I'm buying some aiptasia x right now on Amazon. Should I target even the tiny little ones? I sometime spot micro majanos, but if I remove the rock to kill it I lose sight of them. So should I just target all of them with aiptasia x?

Kill off the tiny ones. You want to control these things as soon as possible otherwise they can spread quickly.

Good luck getting rid of them.
File fish don't go after majanoas. I've tried 3.
Peppermint shrimp don't touch them either.
I tried a Copper Banded Butterfly fish, no good.

The only way I've found that gets rid of them is kalk paste, and it takes several rounds, or manual removal.

Now mfinn says a copperband doesn't work. This fish always worked for me. Go figure . The kalk paste does work very well .

I had luck boiling water(ro/di) and spot blasting them with a baster. It cooks the tissue and cells.

I use a hot glue gun. I pull the rock out of the water, then circle the outside of of the pest with hot glue then fill it in, in casing it with hot glue.
It works for me

Aptasia X wont work. Kalk paste will! if you can take the rock out and torch the majanos with a lighter that works great too lol

I bought a few peppermints several months ago because of an aiptasia hitchhiker. Well, they certainty made quick work of it...plus a bunch of snails. They also loved stealing food from my anemones. Fortunately for me, my snails, and my nems, the last one died last week. Even with target feeding, they were trifling little jerks. YMMV

No more peppermints for me.
