Not only is quarentine important but so is treating for ich ahead of time. I have always qt new fish but never medictated unless I saw a problem. I recently had a nasty ich outbreak after adding a purple tang that had been in qt for 2 months with no signs of disease. After adding to my display I had a major problem and lost almost all of my livestock. Only 2 out of 10 fish made it. I still have 50 days to go fallow until I can put my fish back. From here on out everything is getting treated as a precaution while in qt. Just my experience.
