My freshwater reservoir sits above my sump and when the Tunze stops pumping I'm afraid the hose will siphon water out of the reservoir into the sump. The only thing I've thought of is taking some slack out of the hose and perching some length higher than the reservoir. If there were a check valve of some sort but the hose is metric and I don't think any would fit. Anyone?

Those check against flow from the opposite direction. I need to shut the line down from same direction after pump is off. Besides that check-valve won't fit metric Tunze black hose.

BRS sells a siphon break for 1/4" ATO line. I got one with my Neptune ATO system. It puts a small stream of water back into the ATO tank, then allows air in to break the siphon when the pumps shuts off.

I solved this problem by running the fill line into the overflow box. Water level sensor sits in the sump.
This one might work. I've got a lot of cords back there and tank's close to the wall. I have to run the Tunze a few more months until I can get the Apex ATK.

If you can attach a length of 1/2" pvc to your sump, then put the ato line on top of it and let the water trickle down the inside of the pvc or just run the line up to the display/overflow like what was suggested above.

Drill hole on the tube.
Yes even the resevoir is higher. Drill a hole on the tubing near the top in the resevoir.
This way when pump is stopped, water wont siphon from the resvoi into the sump because the hole would break the siphon.
You want the hole to be near the top (above the water) but inside the resevoir.
I had the same problem in the past (alot). And ever since i did that it never happen to me again.

air gaps are the only way to 100% be sure you will never back siphon. Leave the supply tubing 1" above the high water level of the tank and it cant back flow ever

My ATO container is in my stand on top of miy sump, the refill line itself for the Tunze is ran up behind the tank and is secured into the overflow, it hangs 1" above the max water line. Easiest solution, no valves needed or holes poked.

I just poked a small hole in the tubing just above top waterline in reservoir so it leaked a little back into reservoir but allowed air into tubing to break siphon, worked for 2 years without a problem
Old thread revival, but you sir are my hero. I changed out sumps a couple weeks ago. And my new sump is lower than my old one, so It would siphon about 1/4 of my ato reservoir before it'd finally stop. Drilled a small hole right at the top and issue is completely gone. Thank you again :)

Once you start a siphon into sump with ato pump how would a hole in res stop siphon (ato to sump). ttubing not in sump so no back siphon
