Hello,

I have recently ordered an AI Prime 16HD to replace the stock lighting on my Fluval Evo 13.5 and it should be coming in next week.

My question is what is the best protocol for switching the lights as far as avoiding shock for the corals. Currently I have a mixed reef with SPS, LPS, and softies that’s been running for a little over a year and some of the corals are fairly well established. Any advice on light acclimation/settings I should do is greatly appreciated (or let me know if this is even a thing to worry about). Thanks!

I have the same lights- I’m using one of the preset schedules from nano Karen and I love it- my corals are all growing from my favia, to torches to xenia to my acans.

You will want to set the UV, Blues to an initial 35%, the reds & greens to 0% and your whites to 3%. I don't know if it has an acclimation setting, but you can ramp the blues up 3% a week to a final of 70% for UV, 65% for the blues and 5% for the whites. I have the AI Hydra 26 HDs

How far from the water surface should the light be mounted? (Tank dimensions are 12” wide X 18” long X 12” deep)

That is great question.
If gooseneck mount, then that'll sort of dictate height.
I think 12 inches should give enough spread.
You might have to scale the spectrum.
