Hydro:

Are you still using your iCons? I have had mine now for about 4 months and am super happy with them. Corals have great color and are growing well. Have you tried any of the expanded settings like clouds or lunar?

Best,

Greg

Hi @Quiverfull

I run 2 hours of clouds during peak and lunar mode on channel 1

Right now I only have 5 of the 7 Icons up as I’m testing another light on the end of my tank. I’m still happy with the Orphek results, no complaints overall

getting back to the tank after a few weeks of work travel and thought wow the tank looks really good this morning and finally the sand bed looks really good.

I tested the tank this morning 41.6 nitrates and .40 phosphates

Lol

I don’t even know where to start

HYG-

Remember the cable type matters for flexibility

Very nice! Griplock has a lot of different options. Knowing the name of the part is definitely half the battle. :zany-face: Thanks again for the help, @Hydrored
These are cool! I might look into hanging my lights with these. Looking for a way to hang the Orphek OR3 bars. Each would require a hook into the ceiling stud, stainless wire of some diameter, and two of these for adjustments?

Yes, but these specifically are waaaaay overkill for OR Bars. I’m holding about 200+ lbs.

There are other grip locks options on the site

I saw the small ones that simply twist. Probably a good option and less visible for a small LED bar. I'm still debating building an 8020 light rack. I'd otherwise be hanging 12 cables from the joists. I just don't want to build the aluminum rack, lol.

It’s worth it, just for the unlimited mounting options and the ease of skinning if wanted

I was given 6 Gen 6 XR30 Blues to give a whirl, he’s dropping them off on Saturday. Seems like these things really struggle to put down some serious PAR with the new optics. I have been happy with the Orpheks and will see how things respond.

Just dropped off the lights, I have to get some stainless hardware to mount them and will probably get them in tonight

Still need to clean up all the wiring, 600 PAR at 100% in the middle of my tank AB+ PAR is not an issue. Set the schedule to 40% for now. Picture is just before the lights went out so mostly blue. Would like to raise them higher but light bleed is excessive, 1 win for the Orphek is mounting height and bleed

Will do, I will do a PAR map tomorrow and button everything up.

The spread on these is actually very impressive. Eco tech needs to reduce the stated coverage for an SPS tank though, I had 3 lights on and the tank was lit but PAR was horrible. I would do a minimum of 5 on a tank of my dimensions.

Compared to the Orpheks it really does seem to light the underneath of corals better, not sure how since the panels are much smaller. The PAR on the edges of the tank are 100 PAR higher compared to what I had so I’m guessing some bleaching is on the way.

@Charlie’s Frags what schedule did you settle with?

They need to make a lense like kessil does to bring the angle of the lense to 90 or 60 for deeper tanks

Today’s job was replace all off the filters and membranes, install Tunze Stream 3’s, water change, skimmer cleaning, and pump cleaning- Didn’t get to the pump cleaning part. I ordered a matching cryptic sump from AA to attach to my existing sump, I will finally get my secondary pump and manifold in, this was supposed to be done when I built the plumbing….

Interested in the details on how you plan to incorporate the cryptic sump and your goals around it. I'm in the middle of a plumbing marathon myself, but I love the puzzle.

Really I'm just placing it next to my sump on the end, plumbing it off the manifold, and will drain over into my return area. I don't want to drill this sump, this time next year I plan to have my 600-gallon in with a remote sump, I will probably sell this one or use it pretty much as a cryptic sump and even a place to keep frags. I have a ton of ocean live rock, some of it has been with me for years but it just takes up too much real estate.
