I haven't ordered rock from KP, but I've ordered a few other things- mostly ricordeas. Both times, I ordered an orange ricordea (among others) and asked if they would send one with some blue on it. Both times, I got an orange ric with some blue on it. Everything arrives packed well. Highly recommend them for other livestock, too, not just rock.

Update:

seeing some obvious bristle stars both large and small of the “brown-white” variety.

also seeing some small black bristle stars.

there is some “snapping,” my guess from pistol shrimp, did see one very small white/red one quickly.

I haven’t done any dips. Just picking out the bristle stars and worms and moving them to DT.

will give some more time and eventually try trapping. Don’t think I’m going to dip in hypo or hyper.

how long to let this “cure” and be “few from fish borne” disease before going into DT?

I think the 72 days fallow for ich probably over-kill since the incidence in the wild of ich is probably pretty low so having spores must be pretty low. Any suggestions?

Any ID on that worm above? Can I pick it up and place in DT safely?

I want to start transferring safe inverts over

when i got my tampa bay salt water live rocks, i just set them into the main tank , and dealt with many gorilla crabs , and some pistol shrimp. i hated trapping , unless i knew where their homes are, a shot glass with some bait, worked.I mostly speared them to death or took the rock, and took some H202 and squirted it in the crevice of where i have seen them lurking , usually they come running out of the crevice, worked for 2 pistol shrimp and gorilla crabs.

I got my shipment from KP Aquatics yesterday also. I posted in this forum today asking what my pests are. So far these are my pests....first one is a Bobbit worm, the yellow is an epitoke worm.

I think I saw a baby mantis but not sure on that. I have the rocks in a quarantine tank.

I rinsed in saltwater and places in qt. I created a stand for things that fall off and can’t get back up. I did a 100 % water change today. My rocks were shipped in water delivered to my house. I hope there are no more bad critters left but I doubt it.

I order 15 pounds. I didn't know if the 15 pounds included water weight. Had I known it did not, I would have gotten 10 pounds. I also was supplementing my live rock. Wanted to add bio diversity. I'll have to remove some rocks from my display to fit these.

Do you have your lights on? There is coralline algae on the rocks and it will die without light. But I don't want to cause an algae breakout either. At this point I don't know how long to leave it in QT

I did have one dead pistol shrimp on arrival and I left it in the tank overnight, was completely eaten by morning besides a few shell fragments.

still no ammonia after shipping in water. Will probably do a partial water change tomorrow to clean out some detritus

Nice idea have you thought to put bait at the bottom of the tank

I was also wondering if the rock should have a light, if I leave it unlit for 3 weeks will coralline die?
Put a light over it. That'll make it easier for you to see what's on it, and is better for all the beneficial algae, macroalgae, and potentially coral you can get.Doesn't necessarily have to be a very GOOD light if you don't have a proper one in, but there should, at minimum, be some sort of light source.
