I’m away on business and my wife says the tank is cloudy. While we were on the phone I saw something viscous that had a white haze coming from the rocks. It happened 2x in different locations.

All the fish are accounted for. Parameters look okay. I’m running carbon
just ran phosphate at .04. No ammonia

any ideas?

Here’s a couple pics my wife took. She said they don’t show the level of cloudiness.

Really difficult to see under the blue light.

Is the white stuff stingy? Are you dosing carbon such as NoPox of bacterial additives? Could be bacteria strings or a bacterial bloom.

Any missing fish?

Any chance you have some snails? My guess is that they could be spawning or it’s just a bacterial bloom. Kinda hard to see without white lights

We do have snails. They have spawned several times before but nothing like this

we read somewhere bristle worms spawn? I do have a giant worm that is over 8-9” We checked to see if it was alive and it was moving.

Yes, bristle worms can spawn. For a 8-9” big, it definitely can cause a cloudy tank! But I would keep running carbon if I were you just in case if it’s something else

When spawning, Trochus snails can cloud up a tank like this.
I do have a few but what was wild is it happened while I was FaceTime my family and I could see a wave of mucus come from under the rocks. Granted Everything is winded color so it’s not easy.

a few minutes later it happened again coming out near Another rock nearby.

Mini brittle starfish exhibit the same behavior, and they would be in the rock vs on the rock.
