Title says it all really. I dragged a little net through the ocean in Florida and caught a bunch of these little guys. Started with 7 but I think this is the only one left, he’s the only one I see anyway. He’s been in my tank since July 18 and has actually gained some pretty neat colors!! Managed to get some decent pictures of him swimming around today so I’m asking for an ID :). He seems to live in the rock work and likes to go on these long swims through the front of the tank when I turn the flow off. Thanks y’all!

How big/what colors are they? First glance makes me think Ancylomenes.

Also....is it legal to do this?
Yeah I looked it up before I took them. Limit 5 specimens per person per day. I took caught 7, took five, released 2, then my dad scooped them right back up. So I took 5 and my dad took 2. Perfectly legal :)

Ancylomenes, you’re referring to those tiny blue Peterson anemone shrimp right? Looks similar but not quite, no blue on this guy, a good bit of orange/red though especially around his leg joints and tail fin area. Very similar shape. I’m an avid scuba diver and see the anemone shrimp often, the largest one I’ve ever seen is about half the size of my guy. Mine is probably around 2”

Water was only maybe 2” deep, shoved the net under a boulder during low tide just to see if there was anything under there. You can imagine my surprise when I got a net full of shrimp! I was in Panama City Beach

You're welcome. The Palaemon all look very similar so I didn't want to guess which one. I'd check where their habitat is against where you caught it to nail it down.
I did, says they’re also commonly found on the gulf side of Florida which is exactly right. Sounds like you found a winner! Thanks!
