Just like the 90s Hip-Hop song implies, dipping is important! But we're taking that logic into the saltwater world today. There are several of pros to dipping your new coral, the major one including reducing the chance of introducing pests and other icky things into your tank. Perhaps there are cons, too? Let's discuss it!

Never dipped, but only bought from people I knew and have seen their systems.

100% depends on where they are from.

LFS, 100% dipped. Everything else is highly dependent on the vendor or person, but preference is NOT to dip. In fact, if I feel like I should dip, I probably won't buy.

I never dip…but that gave me issues earlier this year at reefstock, sooooo, next year, I’m definitely dipping the corals I get from reefstock. But other than that, my lfs is very reputable, so I’m not worried about their corals.

I remove all corals from what they are attached to and dip all of them.
Ditto Rich. My passion is SPS and there are too many potential pest/algae problems associated with keeping the plug. For many years, I’ve always used the home made 10-10-10 Bayer dip. 10 oz water, 10mL Bayer dipped for 10 minutes.

I dip first with CoralRx followed by a reasonably powerful dip of peroxide 3%. Ive dealt with nasties 17 years ago that I am not willing to deal with now. H202 works really well!

I voted "other" because there was no "I know I SHOULD DIP, but go I always? No"
answer. :face-with-rolling-eyes:
