Hey guys! It’s been a couple of years since broke my tank down and sold everything off. Tons of lessons learned from my first build and I’m in a good spot again to really be able to maintain my aquarium.

First off I’m looking at a Waterbox 20 cube or 25 Peninsula and going with a bare bottom. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these? I’d go used if someone had something similar lying around in good shape with some extras and wanted to make a deal.

Second, I got rid of EVERYTHING I had and I’m now regretting it so any little odds and ends you may have laying around and willing to sell I may be interested to purchase. A digital hydrometer is probably on the top of my list along with an RO/DI set up.

It’s nice to finally be back! It’s been an itch I haven’t been able to scratch since I broke my first tank down and I’m ready to jump back in. Looking forward to seeing and dealing with all of you again, and I’ll keep posted with updates as I go!

Glad to have you back in. I would personally probably for the Peninsula style (just like the look of it better) and i think you would have some better scape options

I pulled the trigger on the peninsula 25 earlier today. 4-6 week back log so I’ve got some time to get everything else ready. Thanks for the welcome back!

Thats the only bad thing right now is the back log, though it gives you time to get some of the stuff you need. Any idea on stocking?

Going very simple and basic. A couple of designer clowns and softies. Euphullia, Zola’s, leathers and the such. Maybe some simple LPS like blastos or candy canes. Really just trying to keep a light bio load and live off of micro water changes. I plan to build bigger after I move in a couple of years just want to keep a small tank for now.

Well a little update. I ordered a lid from Kraken Reef for my 25 peninsula that should be in around the same time as my tank. Hopefully anyway!

For now I got a little gallon set up for the pair of clowns that I ordered from Reef Gallery so I should be getting those babies in the QT tank very shortly. Going to treat with Prazipro for the first week or two, and then copper for 30 days. That should give me enough time to acquire the tank and get everything else set up.

I’m going to be using reef saver rock to make an negative space aquascape to give my tank some depth and allow for plenty of flow through the usual dead spots. I’m also going bare bottom so I’ll be tossing some bio spheres in to one of the chambers in the back of the tank to help make up for the surface area lost from the sand.

Should be a pretty fun build and I’ll keep you guys posted!

QT tank set up and I’ll be picking up my fish Monday... hopefully. A Black Storm clown and an Extreme Picasso.

Added my first fish to my QT tonight thanks to @JaimeAdams at The Reef Gallery. Really happy with these two and their markings get better and better the more I watch them swim! Can’t wait to see them grow in my new tank when I finally gets here.

Just smashed all of my perfectly good Marco rock, mocked up inside dimensions of my tank, and popped a fresh bottle of glue. Time to get this negative space aquascape done!

Took me longer than I would have liked it to but I didn’t want to rush the process and get a result that I wasn’t happy with. All in all I think it went great and I’ll be happy to have this in my aquarium for years to come. I still have to let the glue cure and then mortar the joints for strength and even out some of the rough spots on the slopes.

What do you guys think???

YOUR HIRED!!
That is some of best rock scape I have seen.
Every square inch of your scape lends itself to a beautiful piece of coral, NICE work!
And it's a very OPEN landscape allowing for excellent water movement.

Thanks!!! Those are incredibly kind words! Can’t wait to see it progress over the next couple of years.

Looks like you are off to a great start! I would get that rock into some water and cure it a while. Marco rock tends to need some curing time. At least with my experience.

Thanks! I’m getting it in to water this weekend. I still have a week left of prazi for my clowns and then a month of copper so I was hoping to get that process done during QT!

Alright, so it’s been a while since my last update… anyway on July 10th I was in an ATV accident that left me with a shattered pelvis. Since then I haven’t been able to walk and have been staying with my in-laws. Hopefully in another 6 weeks or so I’ll be walking and able to go home. I’ll be off of work for quite some time so I’ll have the time to devote to a brand new tank and thankfully something to keep my mind on track.

My wife has been able to, with some instruction, turn my hospital tank in to a temporary home for my two clowns after 3 weeks of Prazi and a month of copper. I’ll be posting updates of the build in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!!!

Alrighty so excited news! I’m back home now and getting back to this tank. I’ll be off of work for a few months so I have some time to get this baby up and running. Although, I do need a lot of time because I can’t really get around all that well right lol! Anyway, I started sanding down what I’m going to use as my stand today to refinish. It’s an antique piece from my late uncle and should be perfect for my peninsula! Can’t wait to post more updates.
