I have a bit of an issue with fish aggression.

I have a Court jester Goby and a Buan's Goby. I got them from BIOTA and they said as long as they have plenty of hiding places they would be fine together in a 15g tank.

Is there any way to help them get along? I've heard an acclimation box for the court Jester, and a shrimp cave for the Buan's. Once the Buan settles in release the Court Jester.

Please help I don't want to lose either of my fish.

You can adjust the rock work if they are fighting. also - though it's a small tank - sometimes adding other fish can help - though I'm not sure I would add much more to that size tank. Lastly, sometimes adding a mirror to the tank temporarily helps. Generally speaking, most of these territorial issues work themselves out. I have not had great success with acclimation boxes.

What about a clown, or a Skillet fish?

Acclimation box which amounts to isolation is best. Rockwork relocation often a method with freshwater fish such as cichlids. Its the environment/tank they are being territorial with. I have 2 bully fish right now in separate parts of my sump to reverse the behavior if reversed. Certain fish once aggressive rarely change.... example . . clowns, tangs, blennies and hawkfish

Since its a small enough tank, you can divide the tank for while, then when you remove the divider they sometimes stay on their own side, I've had some luck in the past. You can buy plastic tank dividers from amazon and cut them to size.

Also I'm just hitting my ugly stage. I have algae growing on the rocks. I'm currently watching them and they are pretty close to each other but don't seem to care. Only interested in the algae. I will keep you all informed.

Their aggression seems to be settling down.

I prefer to NOT use acclimation boxes as they can really stress a fish out. A tank divider is better. If you do use a box, you should put the stronger, more aggressive fish in that, not the weaker one.

I am monitoring them. As the aggression seems to have gotten better now that there is algae growing on everything. They are more interested in the algae then each other.
