I have two Viparspectras on my 55 gallon tank that I turned into a grow out/frag tank. The PAR readout on the sand is 150 on a 24 inch tall tank with the lights at 30% blue, 1% white. I mounted them by rigging a $10 garment rack from target and they’re doing great at 10 inches above the water line. If it were a display tank, I would eventually get a blade for visual appeal and turn off the white altogether on it but the reality is that you don’t really need it. Super solid lights and the price is unbeatable for the power and spectrum. Here is my setup on all blue at the end of the cycle:

Unfortunately going "cheap" or trying to use a low $ budget for reef lighting is very hard. Lighting is one of the most important pieces of your tank, Flow being right there also, people will argue which is more important both are. I am not saying it cant be done without spending $1000s there are a lot of good lights out there but $250 is on the very low end of what is possible for half the tank. I have seen a lot of very nice tanks with the noops. I have seen a lot of threads on people having a hard time getting the noops though. While pretty expensive the blades are a great choice for an all in one light to cover that tank. The 48" with extended tanks mount legs would cover the entire tank well while keeping it "close" to the tank.

There is a giveaway going right now for the orphek natura I will tag you in it. Maybe you will get lucky!

Used to run SB reef lights and was pretty happy with them as a budget option. Built like the Chinese boxes, but I think the LED mix is better. Also have had Viparspectra over the frag tank before and they worked OK (lighting was good, but the timer was terrible)

I run Radions now though and not sure I'd go back, but they aren't really budget friendly.

last one what do you think about? Ai prime 16HD reef lights

you would need too many fixtures which would put you over budget and then you would have 3-4 cords...

plus the lenses melt and sometimes they forget what time it is.

Just get 2 noops with the mounting arms and make it easy on yourself
