I have to dose nitrate and phosphate or my test results are zero. Having said that, I switched from Reef Roids to AF Build and AF Growth Boost and I got a sudden and healthy growth of GHA. I mean, it is bad. I stopped the nitrate and phosphate dosing a while ago, and levels are undetectable.

What would cause an outbreak like this in a low nutrient system? I'm going to dose Reef HD but what do I need to do to prevent a recurrence? I doubt it's caused by the additives but I can't say for certain.

The gha is likely consuming the nitrates and phosphate, giving you a false zero

It was stable at 0 before this so something had been consuming the nitrate/phosphate before the GHA bloom.
