I don’t know what is their diagnosis. I checked online and no straight answer. I don’t want to treat them for the incorrect disease .

Please help me to diagnose to treat them immediately. Yeah they are fish but they know
Me and my son.
They say hi to us every morning

i lost Sheldon. Now I don’t know what to tell him about him and that Ella is sick . The seahorse with the bloated fins .

no ammonia or nitrates . Water quality is not the best doing a 30% water change tomorrow. I have to get more salt water from the store 93BD2508-EDF0-48C8-80B6-F7359A8673CF.jpeg D28F7E54-4CF5-4EF4-856E-31BAF3809061.jpeg 1F56D07D-7B18-4BB9-875B-F76BD99DF329.jpeg 66DD0D6F-C4E7-4D13-B0F3-4EDABFCFA327.jpeg 2DF0F497-A56B-442C-9235-F90A6AE71DD7.jpeg 6278AE28-3F86-4BAE-91D4-AD0D0CB8ED5C.jpeg 67080DA1-515B-4DF1-9C6E-0B01BE02769C.jpeg

Listing parameters including temp and a full tank pic may help.

Agree with above. Copperband are notoriously hard to introduce. Seahorse are usually kept in specific tanks due to their abnormal needs.

From the looks the tank isn't set up for seahorse. They require lower water temperature and feeding 3 times a day.

What type of disease the fish has? So I can start medicating the tank or remove the fish and set up a hospital tank

Thank you. He might be sick from the store. Only two weeks when I got him.
Hospital tank may be needed. Could get a head start and start researching on how to set one up. That way if these guys say one is needed you have a head start on knowing what to get.

You said bloated fins??
They’re known to acquire bloated belly aka positive buoyancy.
Some things were mentioned and somewhat true. While they can adapt to a new tank, you want to assure stable environment with cycling. Test kits play a level of importance here to know how tank is progressing.
If you’re using api test kits, you may be getting false readings.
mine thing specific with seahorses is that they fare best in a seahorse specific tank only as they are slow swimmers and cannot compete with fish for food and must eat continuously. They also do not share the same foods as fish eat and same CC applies to lighting and water flow.
Copperband is best in a well established tank and only eat meaty foods although mine eats dry food. Buy one that is eating at the pet store and eyes not sunken in.
May this point, I would focus on water quality, adding bacteria such as microbacter 7. Invest in quality test kits and decide if you want to go with a seahorse specific or fish specific setup
Seahorse do best in 3-5 degree lower temperature.
As for treatment for seahorse, formalin and metro are the only two that are safe and I would prefer the formalin
Copperband has a sore that has become bacterial and ruby rally pro or Maracyn 2 will be best treatment and accomplished in a separate tank

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having this issue. From what I can see, the copperband has Uronema, a protozoan infection. Seahorse are prone to this as well, but it looks different on them. I suspect both fish have this.

The trouble is, once it gets to this point, I've never been able to cure it. The protozoan lives deep in the muscle tissues of the fish, and there is no way to get medication to the site where they live. I've had limited success with chloroquine, but that is almost impossible to get now, and must be treated in a quarantine tank.

Here is an article I wrote in this subject:

Again, sorry I couldn't give better news....but it is possible/probable that your other fish won't get infected. You should not add any new fish for 45+ days, and you should set up a quarantine tank to treat all new fish in after you buy them (and as cute as they are, stay away from seahorses unless you have a tank set up just for them, they are very delicate).

FYI, Chloroquine is readily available here:

Go in half with a buddy two and split the cost. 100 grams is a lot for a home aquarist. To give an idea, I'm treating a 40B and the initial dose was 1.6g, then 0.16g per day for next nine days. Use a digital jewelers scale. Store the medication in the dark.
