In freshwater, there’s a bunch of snails and shrimp that will reproduce according to available food supply. I.e. Malaysian trumpet snail and cherry shrimp. This is great because they self regulate the population and keep your tank clean.

Is there a saltwater equivalent?

Most of them take human interaction for them to reproduce. Some cerith snail are known to spawn by themselves

Amphipods, Dove snails, Mysis shrimp, Asterina starfish (if you really want to), Marine grass shrimp, Marine ostracods, some Sponges, and a massive variety of Brown, Green, and Red macroalgae (seaweeds).

Edit: Chitons as well

I wouldn't go with Asterina. They reproduce like rabbits and some are known to eat coral. There's alot of varieties and identification is very difficult. They are typically considered a pest.
