Hello,

Wow @NY_Caveman your tank looks amazingly and I had to catch back up (so sorry). The videos are neat also and I have to always catch up on the threads I love.

I am still trying to catch up from being sick and wow there was a lot to do. I love how your pics come out, not sure what you use but they always look amazing.

Super cool video!
Bristleworms gotta eat too! Love that Pygmy!
I'm going to be sleeping in an air tight sleeping bag for a few months after watching that. ;Nailbiting
Lol, that wss crazy. Your bristle worms come out during the day time?!
Love the videos cool seeing the geo come out and clear em out

Thanks all. I rushed to catch it and video was pretty shaky, but I still had to share it.

I love how your pics come out, not sure what you use but they always look amazing.
I use an iPhone 7 Plus for everything. I correct them in the free Photoshop phone app. It has taken me a while to figure out little ways to make it work better.

Captured this interesting situation today. The bristleworm was stealing food from the Acanthastrea. Toward the end, the Geometric Pygmy Hawk comes out to police the situation. It is the second time I have seen him protect a coral, but I think he may just be looking for a live treat.

Awesome Video !!!

His mouth is misleadingly capable. I use this thought as my pseudo guide, if it moves and its body is smaller than his body, it is food.

Big Cleaning Day

Throughout this build thread a few people have commented that I was organized. Despite that, I am just as lazy as everyone else. Case in point, I picked up a Tunze magnet scraper months ago and never even opened the box. I have continued to use the weak, crappy one I have just to wipe the easy stuff off the glass. Well let me say, this Tunze scraper worked excellent. I did not even have to use the razor attachment and still got all the hard bits of coralline off the glass. I like the design and it felt very comfortable at all angles.

Now I am running the gyre in 50% vinegar and will do the returns one at a time after.

This was really overdue. Water change and carbon swap ahead as well, then she will be good as new.

Does this remove coraline from the pumps??? Both my power heads are loaded with it and it's a PITA to scrape off

It does make it a lot easier to scrape off. You’ll still need something metal to get the real hard bits but most of it will come off with just a stiff tooth brush or something similar.

I used a spoon last time to get in between the slats on them. Was a pain....

Yeah, I imagine that wasn’t fun! LoL Try a butter knife or Swiss Army knife. If its been soaked or ran in a vinegar mix for a couple hours it’ll come off much easier than it would in just a quick water rinse in the sink.

Tank really is looking great Caveman! Your GBTA is growing fast with that Bicinctus bringing it food :). If its like mine it’ll take its sweet time splitting for you. My RBTA’s split quick and stay under 4” but my Green gets huge at times.

Before and after the soak I hit it with a toothbrush. It was surprisingly spotless after. It does run vertical in the corner though and I use the mesh covers. I really only had coralline on the top end cap.

Good info to consider. Mine was maybe 2” in August and is now 8”. I may be in trouble in this small tank.

I'm curious if you could use a Sonic jewelry cleaner to clean power heads? Obviously with vinegar instead of a cleaning solution.
Interesting try it and let us know.
