I'm hoping it keeps its bubbles like my half is. I've had them now for 3 months and they show no signs of loosing their bubbles :) looking good man! I'm glad you, the wife, and the kids like it :)

My wife really wanted an anemone. Lucky for me she and I had similar tastes for the color. This specimen is beautiful. Here is a shot with some white LEDs as well

That anenome looks blue with pink tips? I have never seen that before. Are you sure that’s not a special type of BTA? Even if it’s under blue lights, most nems aren’t translucent like that.

It is a beautiful specimen. However I have seen them online from vendors and on Divers Den. The price was not high end and generally reasonable. Usually listed as green with pink tips. Not sure if it is this specimen or my lights, but it looks very blue to me.

After measuring PAR over the past month, I have found that the percentages hold. In other words, if I measure the center, surface PAR, I can generally calculate PAR everywhere in the tank. I guess this is logical, but it is my first PAR meter. Here is the percentage map I came up with
82026DCA-B7A9-4B0B-BF68-BE726949F42D.jpeg

I created a spreadsheet where I can enter the one surface reading and it shows me the rest of the tank. It is certainly not exact. Additionally, with the focused lenses of LEDs a slight move can cause a difference of generally around +/- 10% PAR. When considering overall LED adjustments, though, it is a pretty good guide. For placing a coral with specific lighting needs, I would still measure that spot manually.

It is certainly better than what I used to do in the 90s. I could only really calculate PAR based on the bulb type and using Martin A. Moe’s technical data in the “Marine Aquarium Reference.”

It's definitely your lights, a blue BTA isn't a thing. Still pretty though.

I wonder if UV has something to do with the coloring. My LEDs have 5x 420nm diodes and 2x 395nm. The rest of the blue channel is 20x 450nm.

EDIT: 55 LEDs total

Could also be your camera. I have to play with mine to get pictures of your nems sibling ;)

Could be that too. I tend to enhance my photos with the iPhone Photoshop app (free app) since my iPhone 7 Plus is not the best camera. I have professional experience color correcting and feel I can recreate what I see pretty well. In this case the original photo is still pretty blue

Regardless the anemone looks quite blue in person in our tank and I think it will create amazing color contrast when we eventually select a yellow/orange clownfish it can host.

EDIT: added the comparison photo.

Did you still have Kessils running when you got it? They seem to tend toward the blue as well.

That is what I used in the 90s. 250W, 20k MH over a standard 55 gallon. I had a purple Sebae anemone, but the star was an Heteractis magnifica.

Can you take a picture with different lighting? I love nems and I’m very curious.
