Hello,

First so sorry for the loss, words can’t describe what one goes through when they love a pet as family. I’m really sorry that your children had to go through this. I wish there could have been something I could have done.

Your anemonie looks amazing and I’m glad it’s going well and your tank looks amazing. Your lights make it look amazing.

I am really happy with these lights. Operating at 20-25% gives me a lot of room to increase intensity. I considered adding diffusion, but so far I do not feel that is needed despite the focusing of the lenses.

That BTA is amazing! The lighting or the camera make it look like none I've ever seen before.
The Hammer is nice as well.

I bummed to hear you lost your shrimp. I know the girls were not happy at all. It's a learning lesson for them about life. It's a learning lesson for you about reefs.
I'm sure you will replace them at some point.

Your build continues to be a great experience.

And, by the way, they offer a “no frills” version of the same light with no timer or WiFi for half the price. I am very happy with the light for the aesthetic I like and for the needs of my tank.

I am thinking about my shrimps’ passing and came across something suggesting that toxins from dinoflagellates have been associated with invertebrate deaths. I had not heard that before. The reason this struck me was this morning I saw two new tiny 1/8” tufts of brown hair in my rockwork. I also saw one 1.5” brown string with one bubble on another rock. It is early in my observation, and I will hopefully have time to get out the microscope tomorrow. Has anyone experienced shrimp deaths while battling dinoflagellates? @GoVols perhaps?

My nutrients are not zero (NO3 at 4 ppm, PO4 at 0.34 ppm), so perhaps I am just getting some Cyanobacteria. Nobody wishes for Cyano, but between that and Dinos, well, you know. My tank is young and I am not panicking. Just collecting data.

I may be jumping the gun and I will hopefully have more data tomorrow when I return home. I will likely start a new thread as well if I find anything. Thanks all.

#dinoflagellates ?

I don't have a nem or trachy. It's official. I'm kicked out of the Reef club.
You have all that and more, You just need a larger tank so you can bring them home!

Hey @NY_Caveman LOOKING GOOD! Nice Score on the Nem, its a beut. @Crabs Mcjones I think Katrina was giving you a hint for the next split

I started a thread to try and ID these new growths, but I did not get great pictures. iPhone is not great at this and the red-brown tufts of fur were small and mostly floated away. This algae or whatever it is was hard to get off the rock. Here is the new thread, but I will probably have to try again for better pictures.

Need ID - microscope pics included

“I received a box of rocks today.”

Awesome Anemone and beautiful corals....

Only in reef keeping does this statement bring excitement. Perhaps in the diamond industry as well, but our rocks are equally valuable.

Morning numbers

NH3 = 0 ppm
NO3 = 2 ppm
PO4 = 0.20 ppm
dKH = 9.4
pH = 7.8

PO4 continues lower. Nitrates were down from 4 ppm. Checked before the lights came on when pH usually is lower. Blues up now, whites come on in about an hour.
