Morning blues (with a hint of natural sunlight).
I picked this and some dried seaweed up recently
Innovative Marine Gourmet Grazer. I like the concept and it came self contained with magnets. Very easy to use (I did not even get wet putting it in which I really like). I left it in for about three hours.
I started to worry a little about my snails as I have had no nuisance algae (that I have seen), only diatoms. Of course, it is early in my build. The Shrimp actually all ran right too it (scavengers!). The Ceriths made their way over as did some hermit crabs. The Trochus did not get any that I saw. I will put a little in once a week just to make sure no one is starving and to add a little variety.

We Have an Anemone!
Package delivered. Never early. Average is 10:37am for live deliveries.
He is looking unhappy but healthy. Foot was in good condition and mouth was fully closed.
He was shipped attached to a rock, but detached in transit. That may have been a sign of stress, but it made it very easy for me.
I took @Amoo ’s advice. Looked him over, floated for 20 minutes, then placed him right in my desired location until he stuck, (without dripping) and continued observing. In seconds he was attached and the foot secure. This is the way I always used to acclimate an anemone in the old days. As I returned to reefing and did a lot of research I convinced myself drip acclimating was better. I am glad I listened to Amoo.
The shipping water was quite foul by sight and by smell so after floating I put him right in. Drip acclimation seems to make logical sense, but in this case it was clear from the foulness of the water I needed to get him out of the cup right away when I opened it.
Here he is seconds after adding him (the following pictures are not great, but get the point across)
Pepper, our Peppermint Shrimp started bothering him.
I had to shoo him away a few times and he seemed to get the message. He has not come near him since.

In the end he only moved about 3” a little deeper into the rock, but still in the light. After 8 hours he was still in that spot, opening, inflating and looking quite content

glad it's working out for you man. Don't forget your pantyhose. They are most likely to walk/swim/float...etc during the first lights out period even if they have been attached all day.

Pretty Cool! I noticed from the packaging it’s an Italian anemone from Fragile very rare
LOL, no lamp shade in the box.
I cannot wait to get home from work and check on him.

Came home and the anemone was in the exact same spot. Sweeeeet!
Just spent an hour cleaning the refugium and the return chamber during a 10% water change. After 60 days the returns were happy to see me
They are running a little loud since I returned them to the chamber, hopefully that subsides quickly. I am still running the stock Accela pumps. I considered swapping them out with Cobalt (MJ) 1200s, but the flow is quite sufficient for now.
A couple of posts back I said I had no nuisance algae. Well, I meant in the display. In the back, the Chaeto LEDs were causing some slime algae. Simple to clean out, but I wanted to be complete. The Cheato has only grown a tiny bit, but it is healthy and solid which is a good sign.
I will hopefully be able to get a good picture of the anemone after the lights come up fuller.

Well, it did not take me long to realize the pump noise was not right. I unplugged them one at a time and one was bad. Pulled it out and found this
Yes that is part of the impeller shaft in the pump and the other half broken off in my finger. First time I take out the stock pumps and one is busted. Ugh. I am a heavy handed troglodyte (my nickname has been Caveman for decades after all), but this seems cheap to me.
I was feeling lazy after what I had already done so now I am running one Accela 265 GPH and one Cobalt MJ1200 295 GPH. The water level is the same and it seems to be working fine despite my OCD concerns (I am already bummed I run the heaters in non-symmetrical chambers). I will monitor for now.
