Where the anemone is, it is hard to get my iPhone in focus. For everyone to be clear, I placed him at the top of the crevice in the rock on the right. He then moved slightly lower and deeper into the rock. For perspective, in this FTS, the anemone would be right above Sky’s yellow head (but you cannot see him in this image)

I had to shine a flashlight into the crevice to get the camera to come close to focusing

The color is off because of the flashlight, but you can see he looks happy and bubbly. Interestingly, he is wedged right next to a bivalve (at his top, left) that came in with the live rock. Best image I could get. In person his color is looking excellent after one day.

Today’s numbers

08/30/18
dKH = 9.3
NO3 = 4 ppm
PO4 = 0.24 ppm
pH = 8.0

I am happy with this. Everything is where I expected it. I had stopped dosing Lanthanum Chloride and PO4 is still dropping. Yay! I have a personal theory that anemones use PO4. Yes, my anemone is small, but at least I do not think this level is bad for it or my LPS. That said, the trend is lower and I would like that to continue.

I have another delivery coming today. Three small corals. These were ordered a week ago on a delayed delivery (right before I found out about the anemone). It is probably a lot to add in a week, but that is what it is.

After this I will be relaxing and likely not be adding anything for a while. A single clown will come eventually (because I think a pair would be too aggressive in my small tank), but not until this tiny anemone grows some. After that there will be one more order for 4-5 SPS, but again, not for a while. I want to be sure where the anemone is happy.

From there, I will be mostly done and just watch everything grow, hopefully for years. I am not interested in packing tons of corals in my tank. I always knew I wanted about 10 corals total and that is exactly what I am doing.

Woo-hoo! Fedex came at 9:30am today! Nice and early.

Dipping time!

Here is our haul...

Caulastrea echinulata
3480F9DC-55EF-4E65-B9CC-DE3B159DEEDC.jpeg

This is the last Caulastrea I wanted. We now have green neon and red with green mouth furcatas and these beautiful teal and purple echinulata (I knew they would be bigger, but wow!).

Branching Hammer Coral
Euphyllia paraancora

Always loved these. This should open green with purple tips.

Rainbow Acanthastrea
Acanthastrea lordhowensis (I think)

Wife said we needed more color so I said sure! ROY G. BIV indeed!

They were shipped very well by @Cultivated Reef and I found no pests at all. All bags were clearly labeled. They were all 20% off (which ends today) at $29.99 overnight shipping. Only the Acanthastrea came with a frag plug and it was easily removed with a table knife. I always remove plugs so I was glad two came without (without even asking).

And the best part of all... I did not super glue my hands to anything!

EDIT: Whoops, I messed up the vendor tag. Fixed!

PS. BTW, take note of the packaging,

“NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION”

Well, it honestly never occurred to me, but because they mentioned it, hmmm... I wonder...

LOL I have some Hakari freeze dried plankton and it smells really tasty Kind of off topic but I also do native US fish and even the pickiest of picky wild caught fish will taste it so it must smell good to them too.

Ha! I was researching culturing Phytoplankton and apparently it is a fad for human consumption. Still, I would assume there is a big difference in the production and regulation of food for people versus production for animals.

Ha ha ha! I am getting pretty good at it. Pop the plug, glue to rubble, or in the tank. I just tried using a cup over it in the tank to catch any glue and shoo the fish and it worked well. Hate the thought of the fish getting glued. The first time I glued frags was with my daughter and I just did not want to glue her.

In the old days, of course, most corals came on rocks and those rocks would just become part of the tank.
