Okay, before I tell the story. I have hair algae. It needs a trim. I feel no shame.
My little patch of GHA exploded and now looks like a national Forest! I also feel no shame. :D

You scored some nice additions!

Have you looked at it at night? I'll bet your pods love it!
Not yet, I will shortly. I'm in the middle of cleaning my sump, skimmer and reactor. It will probably be midnight before I finish so I'll do a little investigating.

I worked today and after, I treated myself to Manhattan Aquariums.

I bought a fish. $25 seemed reasonable. Several livestock were 20% off.

As my current Spotcinctus grew, I felt she desired a mate. She just had that look, you know? ;) She has also been harassing the Cardinals, but they are easy targets. I may have to remove them which I could live with. I like that they are pigs with big mouths since I have low nutrients.

I added this little fellow.

I considered an acclimation box, but I felt I had to let the clowns figure it out naturally. The next two hours were really fascinating.

At first the big female took a couple of shots at the little guy. Sizing him up I think. It was not territorial. She did not go back to the anemone. She watched the male.

The three Cardinals, who were very curious, came over and did something weird. They started running cover around the male. They boxed him in like circled wagons as if they were protecting him. It was crazy. The big girl was not happy and picked at them one by one. The Cardinals still tried for a short while.

The Midas was watching the whole time and also seemed protective of the new clown. He took a couple of shots at the female and she did not retaliate in any way.

After this settled, the anxious female began butting the male with her side. The other four fish all moved to sit near the top of the water line watching. The male clown started rubbing down against to the bare bottom of the tank when she approached, submitting.

She would watch him for a bit, then test him again.

This continued for a while until the female returned to the anemone at lights out (not sure when actually, I may have fallen asleep on the couch watching them for a while). Now with lights fully out the male is relaxing on the other side of the tank. Cannot wait to see what happens tomorrow.

Great update!

I took advantage of the sale and added two corals as well. $16 each.

Tank is looking okay today. Gave it a good cleaning. I also reattached four knocked frags and set the two new ones. I used an epoxy for the first time and I like the result so far. I am hoping it holds better than super glue gel with snails and my clumsy hands.

Here is an FTS, perhaps a little cloudy still

The Clownfish saga is progressing nicely. The big female is still spending most of her time in the anemone. Every little while she will go to the other side of the tank, stare at the male for a few seconds at about 5” away, swim with him for a moment, then go back to the anemone. No darting or budging. Skyler and the PJ Cardinals still watch everything closely and occasionally try to coral her around the male. So funny how concerned they seem.

Happy to hear the social order is in check. Always a peace of mind knowing the fish arent at each others' throats. You've got enough to handle at the moment.

Not great pictures, but you can see the dynamic.

A couple of times they swam together about an inch apart. Of course, only when I was at a distance, never when I was close with the camera ready, LOL

Good to hear your clowns are doing ok. Introducing another clown isn't always a blood bath. We introduced a new male to the wife's tank a few months back. Within an hour they were long lost friends and followed each other from nem to nem. I'm glad yours is working out. Now my maroons on the other hand was a totally different story!
