I think I might have Dino’s. I’ve been hoping and praying I don’t, but it’s growing more, see bubbles here and there, and some dead snails.

Params:
Temp 77.7
Salinity 1.026
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20-25
PH 7.8-8.0
Alk 7.7-7.9
Cal 460
Mag 1240

I don’t have test kits for anything else.

Started with dry rock and Carib Sea “live” sand and imdopacific sea farms mud

The system is 2 months old. Just started using limewater. I only use a skimmer and had a fuge... but all my macros are dying. No carbon or anything else.

Looks like dinos and maybe some cyano starting? I started with dry rock and had a brief ugly stage. Ulva from IPSF, UV sterilizer, and chemi clean wiped it all out for me.

If your macros are dying, considering that your tank is very new, nutrients are insufficient. Even though your nitrates are abundant, macro is never limited by most abundant nutrient, macro is limited by the least abundant nutrient.

Consider adding iron as a major trace mineral.

Nuisance algae such as Dino & cyno thrive in low nutrients when desirable algae will die.

Both orders have shipped so I should have more info Thursday. Just finished using a small baby bottle brush to try to scrub the base of some of these mats away to get them in the water column so my filter socks can filter them out.
I just got off the phone with my work around 4 and all of us nurses have been laid off. So I’m broke and now unemployed. Can’t buy a UV sterilizer when I don’t know how I’m gonna make my car payment. :-( I love my tank and I’ll start applying for a new jobs now. It’ll work out somehow.
