These are the best pics i could get.. there seems to be little white dots all over him but i cant tell if its just stuff from him hiding in the rocks.. he does rub his gills on the back wall once in a while.. i just dont want to pull him out and stress him for nothing..

Sorry but the pictures are very difficult to see if there are any white spots. So if you can a close up pic would be better for us to view. Until then, here's a link of pictures of the main fish disease/parasite infections for you to refer to.

Ive tried a 100 times to get a better picture but its impossible unless hes right against the glass... he doesn't seem sick though, hes out swimming and then hiding, normal stuff. He also still eats just fine

Unfortunately those symptoms could be several things. Eating is a really good sign. I would focus on trying to identify it as ich with the dots and scratching.

You could try a black molly test.

Get a few freshwater black mollies, acclimate to SW, add them to your display. Watch them for two weeks to see any sign of disease/infection, maybe even freshwater dip them afterwards to check for flukes while you're at it. If you find nothing, you've lucked out.

I currently have a couple royal gramma in quarantine too. I do too have those similar white spots. It's either ich or velvet or both. I can see it clearly on the tail. Lots of white small dots. If the spots are very dusty and lots of them its velvet. If large and you can count them its ich. Good thing I caught it on a separate quarantine and treated with copper. It took about 7 days for first symptoms showed up. It took only 2 days to multiply all over the body and fins. And 2 days to mostly disappear after full level of copper.

Best of luck
