Bought quite a bit of new coral and was focused on making everything look just right, and had to rearrange some rockwork because of it.

My female clown was not a fan of that. She does this weird tail slapping thing, where she swims up right by me and spins really quick, creating quite a bit of water flow. If that doesn't work, she resorts to biting (like my three year old cousin).

My male clown bit me for 15 minutes straight today while I was removing an anemone. I have to shoo him away every time I put my hands in the tank lol.

Just wait until it gets good at targeting the soft skin in between your fingers! ;) And not to hijack your thread, but would anyone like a donation of a female Fire Clown? (*joke*)

Thick arm length gloves for me. Easy to clean, no worries about what may or not be on my skin and no worries about being bitten or stung when digging in the tank.

I train my fish that there is a Pecking Order.

ME

THEM

If they want to challenge for dominants let them try!
I think the rest of the tank mates like watching the bully get chased around.

My female Snowflake Clown is like an attack dog when I go in the tank. Rapid fire bites every time.
Not quite as weird as the Skunk Shrimp grooming my arm hairs though.

When he was 2, my son named our female clownfish "Bad Guy Fish" because she bites me every time I put my hand in the tank.

the female in my frag tank does the same thing... I used to chase her a bit when she would nip my hand to hopefully keep her away, but I think that has only served to racialize her, and make her bitter to the world... I now have to distract with a coral feeder when I put my hand in, or wear a rubber glove.

This thread makes me laugh, my clowns both do that (the female more than the male). I keep them away with an acrylic rod (you know, the ones for pointing out corals).

I miss the days when my clown would attack my hand. RIP. Her partner doesn't give me a second thought.

I absolutely love clownfish personalities

I had a clown that I could hand feed. If I put my hand in the tank and slightly closed my fingers making a cradle it would lay in my hand and snuggle. It was a wild perc. great fish. I had it for 13 years. It died in the black out of 2003. The perc I have now I got in 2004. Ignores me.

My clown attacks the gold ring on my finger. I had a female crosshatch once and like the Niger would come full speed clicking her jaws at my hand. This was the only fish I’ve ever been scared off. If she bit me I’d be missing a chunk of flesh. The jaw clicking was so loud you can her it a couple feet away from the tank.

Cinimon clownfish was the only fish I was scared of she was 8" and about 3/4" thick... if she bit me it would have taken a chunk out of my hand....
She outgrew her 120g tank and went to a 1500g lagoon to live out her days
