Hi y’all! Need all the advice I can get Noticed these spots on my clown yesterday, seems like it may be Ich? I may be clueless but I was under the assumption that they contract ich from adding new fish but my tank has been stable and no new additions in a long time. If anyone has more insight on this I’m very confused with the mixed information online and in my marine books. Also, if anyone has any experience with the Fritz coppersafe I need any and all advice on the best way to treat with that product or if I should purchase something else? Thanks so much in advanced! Also, I have quarantined both of my clowns in separate tanks at this time.

It does look like ich. Have you started the treatment with coppersafe?

Here's a good sticky for disease and treatment

How long have you had them? When was the most recent addition?
Does look like ich - it’s possible for it to be hidden for a while, but some stressor triggers it to take over.
Qt, copper, and fallow are the best method.

make sure you get a copper test as the dosing on the back of the coppersafe bottle is way higher than the therapeutic amount of 1.5-2.0 ppm. and it will aggravate any corals or invertebrates. i recommend the hanna high range tester. all of my LFS carry them

You are going to want coppersafe at 2-2.5 for ich.

Yes, that is marine ich. Coppersafe works well, but you need to get to a full dose of 2.5 ppm within a day or so. You can sometimes dose it without a test kit, but you need to know EXACTLY how much water your tank holds, taking into account gravel displacement, etc. The Hanna high range checker is the best product and the API liquid test is accurate, but hard to read.

Thank you so much for everyone’s help & advice!! I took all measures possible. I removed all of my fish from my DT & moved them to one of my QT tanks, put the noticeably infected clown (pictured) separate from the others but dosed both QT tanks with the Coppersafe. I purchased the Hanna copper reader and it’s been at a 2.23 for 4 days now. I am only noticing maybe 3-4 ICH that I can see now which is a major improvement from last Wednesday when I noticed them. I’ve read too many conflicting things online, how long do y’all recommend that I keep my fish out of my DT tank? And is it true that if I fallow’d my DT I do not need to treat it with Coppersafe & the ICH will eradicate themselves ? I haven’t treated my main tank at this time.

**The last photo is where I can still see two ICH (I believe)

I just got my copper reading to 2.55, should I add more water or just let it remain there? Also I just about had a heart attack! As I went to measure copper levels I saw this in the tank, I quickly got it all out but I’ve never seen any waste or anything like this and it almost appears worm like. Any insight on what this could be?! Woosh!

2.55 is fine for coppersafe, a full dose tested out for me at 2.54 average of multiple runs.
The material in the images could be mucus feces from the fish. That can be benign, or a sign of internal infection. Are the fish eating well? What foods are you feeding them?

interesting. I feed them the frozen marine cuisine & the omega one marine flakes. They have been eating as normal. My infected clown are less when I first spotted the ICH and now he’s eating the same amount he always has.

Well, that food is good. Maybe that wasn’t feces?
